This event also took place in November 2005 - will have that information
and photos posted soon.
On November 16, 2004 The Pulaski Community Partners Coalition Youth Advisory Board organized and participated in National Mix It Up at Lunch Day. The cafeteria tables were set up by birth month with a student-organizer facilitating conversation at each table. The goal was for students to step out of their comfort zones and meet new people. Some students were reluctant to participate, but those who did saw the difference that Mix It Up made. The PCPC YAB plans to sponsor Mix It Up at Lunch Day again in November, 2005. Hopefully, it will be even more accepted and anticipated. Rachel Chitwood Tuesday, November 16, 2004, more than 4 million students at nearly 8,000 schools around the country participated in the 3rd annual Mix It Up at Lunch Day. They stepped out of their comfort zones to meet someone new. Pulaski County High School joined those schools in participating in this program sponsored by www.tolerance.org . Students were grouped at tables according to their birth months. After months of careful planning and advertisement of the idea, most students chose to participate in the event. Some students renewed old friendships while others came to know entirely new people. At the end of the day, the members of the Youth Action Board all agreed that we had made a difference.
